LOCAL GUIDE: 4th Street Long Beach

We moved out of downtown Long Beach at the end of last year and onto 4th Street in the Rose Park area and it was a much needed change. Downtown was fun for a little bit, but living outside of the city is more of my jam. There are a lot of fun things nearby us, something for everyone really, and I wanted to share a small guide of my favorite places and things on 4th Street with you all. One of my favorite things about where we live is how walkable everything is to get to- all of the things on this list are within walking (or biking) distance of our place. Eventually I'll do a full Long Beach City Guide (who knew this city had so much to offer), but for now, here is my guide to 4th Street!

GOOD EATS

EARLY MORNING
Rose Park Roasters - for the coffee drinkers out there, the cold brew here is a real hit, and a must for the hot weather we've been having lately. They also sell a variety of roasts for you to brew at home, which they can also deliver to you via bike!
Salud Juice - for those who would prefer to start their day with a fresh pressed juice. my favorite is the Indian Summer - orange, carrot, lemon, and muddled mint.
Coffee Cup Cafe - Get here before 9am on the weekend unless you want to wait! Although the wait is worth it. I recommend Douglas's Breakfast Quesadilla or the French Toast, or really just anything off their menu.

MID DAY
The Social List - A "Modern European Tavern." Great deals on sandwiches + sausages at lunch time, all their sauces are made in house, and a 10% discount for long beach locals!
Lola's - The green sauce here steals the show. Sometimes I just go for the green sauce.
P3 Artisan Pasta - It might be an italian restaurant, but the secret here is the empanadas. At only $2.75 each, can't be missed.
Whistlestop - A relative newcomer to 4th Street. Burgers, grilled cheeses, fries, and shakes at decent prices.
Taqueria La Mexicana - this restaurant is dangerously close to our place, and has killer carne asada fries and california burritos. Cash only.

EVENING
Restauration - A nice little restaurant with a huge back patio- because eating outside is the best. Modern American food.
Number Nine - Way good pho, minus the MSG! Double plus.
Kafe Neo - Greek American fusion, and they have a dog friendly patio. Try the Zeus fries if you can handle the heat.
Pike Restaurant & Bar - Get your grease (chili fries! hot wings! fish and chips!) on at this local spot that has nightly entertainment. Always a good time.

SHOPPING
Twig & Willow - Right next door to the Coffee Cup Cafe. Cute little boutique with tons of cards for all occasion, clothing and little gifts. Great place to go for last minute gifts!
Prism Boutique - Fashion forward bohemian boutique. Another good go-to for last minute gifts (for women)
Port LBC - Home to the Port label clothing brand and a few other brands, this is the place to go for a decent Long Beach tee or hat!
Retro Row Shops - Definitely take some time to peruse all the fun little vintage boutiques on 4th Street between Cherry and Junipero.

STUFF TO DO
The Beach - not technically on 4th street. But only a couple blocks away! No dogs allowed.
Local Harvest Farmer's Market - Every Wednesday night from 3-7pm at Marina Vista Park by Colorado Lagoon. Not on 4th Street, but close. Do your grocery shopping and get some dinner.
Art Theatre - A return to the golden age of cinema showing mostly only indie flicks. Single screen art deco greatness.
